Hip flip swing dance move

BACKGROUND/TRAINING

Taking her first class in 2014, Ashley is one of our homegrown Down South Swing teachers.   She has a seemingly endless enthusiasm for Lindy Hop, which lead her to organize the first Swing Out Hard at DragonCon flash mob in 2015. Her favorite part of helping new dancers is sharing her own “Ah ha!” moments that have improved her dancing.  She is known for being encouraging of dancers of all levels, and can often be caught offering to dance the Balboa basic for 3 minutes with any willing victim...ahem...dancer.

Jenny

Noah

BACKGROUND/TRAINING

Evin started teaching Vintage dance in Chicago at the height of the swing revival, 1998. Teaching nationally and internationally, she has gotten to work with, learn from, instruct, and be inspired by both influential dancers and up and comers alike. Most fulfilling, though, is her opportunity to see the scene grow right here at home. Evin's full bio can be seen by clicking here.

TEACHING STYLE

Evin's instruction incorporates advanced methods and technique even in beginning classes, while using plenty of humor, and a spiral learning approach. With lots of practice time and student-led exploration, her classes are as fun as they are informative!

Her repertoire includes Lindy Hop, 6-count Swing, Charleston, Vernacular Jazz, Blues, and other vintage dances.

BACKGROUND/TRAINING

Christopher started dancing in 2009 in St. Louis, MO. Having wanted to learn to dance for a while; he jumped at the opportunity to be a friend's partner for a college dance class.  He was hooked, and got involved the local Lindy Hop scene.  Though focusing on his social dancing, he has competed at several events, including Lindy Focus, Lindy on the Rocks, and the Nevermore Jazz Ball.

TEACHING STYLE

Christopher focuses on technique, fundamental footwork, and the inherent whimsy of Lindy Hop in his dancing and teaching

BACKGROUND/TRAINING

Noah began Lindy Hop back in the 90s after a lifetime of martial arts.  He spends most of his dancing time remembering the difference between a Tuck Turn and a Take Down.

Known for his fun and expressive style on the dance floor and in the classroom, he keeps his partners and his students smiling!
